Ribadu Ordered To Go On A Study Leave

authordonne4real | December 28, 2007

Ribadu

Honestly, I think this is a shame. Why else would the authorities ask him to go on a year-long study leave if it isnt because they are protecting some people and are afraid that he is stepping on toes to get the job done. Can the government still claim that they want to fight corruption when the head of the anti-corruption agency is being sidelined?

What’s in the news?

Yar’Adua to dump OBJ and for alliance with Atiku and IBB.

Nigeria tops African foreign reserve ranking with over $43 billion in her reserves. Nigeria has the 27th largest reserve in the world. She is followed in Africa by South Africa (over $29billion), Botswana ($7 billion) and Angola ($6.75 billion). To put this in perspective, we are relatively debt free compared to other countries. As big as India is, her reserve is just $100 billion. So we arent doing bad. There is always the argument - if we have such large reserves, why dont we use it to improve the infrastructure and lives of Nigerians? But the problem is the fact that there are just too many corrupt people who will end up lining their pockets instead of using the funds for the intended purposes.

NIPOST has successfully foiled about N55 billion scams. The organization has intercepted over 15,000 counterfeit cheques worth about N55 billion.

Interesting quote by the Minister of the FCT, “Nigerians should not panic when there is armed robbery“. So what should they do? Smile and laugh and be happy?

Special Adviser of Public Communications explains why Yar’ Adua is slow.

Nigerian Universities Commission considering whether to demote non-PhD lecturers.

Can any BS be greater than this? Prof Iwu, the head of NEC claims that the 2007 elections were better than June 12 elections.
